Our History

As the company grew and began to expand, the Directors quickly recognized that as a young and growing nation, there was a need for a stable yet comprehensive Global Shipping Service that would offer Importers & Exporters reliable and affordable trade routes/options. As a consequence, a relationship which lasted approximately five years was established with the now defunct Trans Caribbean Lines, who offered a regular cargo service out of Miami, Florida. After the demise of Trans Caribbean, and recognizing that there was a huge void to be filled to ensure the least disruption in service, Caribbean Shipping Agencies, Ltd. fostered a partnership which has stood the test of time with Hyde Shipping Corporation.

Hyde Shipping was initially introduced to Belize in 1981, offering a bi-monthly bulk and containerized shipping service out of Miami, Florida U.S.A. Over the years this service evolved from a ten day turnaround schedule, to weekly, and now bi-weekly calls providing both Importers and Exporters with the reliability and flexibility needed to remain relevant in an ever changing competitive economic environment. Together, Caribbean Shipping Agencies, Ltd. and Hyde Shipping Corporation have been able to build their Clientele first and fore-mostly with excellent Customer Service, complemented with a safe, reliable, and affordable shipping service. We have become partners in Global Transportation.

Under the guidance of our Directors, Caribbean Shipping Agencies Ltd., has also played a pivotal role in the establishment and development of Cruise Tourism in Belize. Our Company’s first Cruise Ship Client was the SS Sea Breeze of Premier Cruises, which was the first major Cruise Line that visited Belize on a weekly basis. Shortly thereafter, we became proud Port Agents for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., who along with their subsidiaries, is the second largest Cruise Line in the world.

Internationally, with the evolving Cruise Industry and its innovations, whether it is environmentally friendly or new technologically savvy ships, the Port of Belize City has evolved over time. In this growing industry, the Directors of Caribbean Shipping Agencies Ltd., have too grown with vast experiences and knowledge. This has been beneficial to the company, especially with the ever growing relationships with our Global Partners in the Cruise Ship Industry. As a fully Belizean owned company, we take pride and are honoured to have become Local Representatives for the fourth largest Cruise Line in the World, MSC Cruises. It is always a pleasure for us to welcome our other major Clients to our beautiful Jewel, such as Viking Cruises, Blount Small Ship Adventures, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, Global Cruise Lines, Hapag Lloyd Kreuzfahrten, Linblad Expeditions LLC, Hurtigruten, Cunard Line, Scenic Cruises, Compagnie Du Ponant, Sea Dream Yacht Club, Plantours & Partner GMBH, One Expeditions, ResidenSea Ltd., & Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection. As the world revolves, so has the variety of vessels. We are thrilled to be a part of the evolvement in also representing and welcoming several Yachts & Mega Yachts to the shorelines of Belize.
